Just as there are makers of spyware programs, it was only a matter of time until companies started making anti spyware software. There are so many on the market today that it will have your head spinning. The most common software that promotes itself as able to locate and remove spyware are Lava soft’s Ad-Aware SE and Kolla’s Spybot- Search and Destroy. Microsoft got the GIANT Anti Spyware software and renaned it Windows Anti Spyware beta and then released it with a free download for computers with Windows XP and Windows 2003.
In 2006, Microsoft renamed it again to Windows Defender and was released again as a free download. They also released a statement saying that they would ship for free the purchase of Windows Vista. Other companies have also joined the spyware fight; Webroot has produced such software as Spy Sweeper and Trend Micro’s, Anti Spyware.
One of the biggest names in anti virus software is Symantec and McAfee, they add anti spyware to their existing anti virus products as well. The trick is to able to stop spyware before they do any damage. Most anti spyware can remove spyware and protect your computer from any further spyware attacks but once the damage is done, it’s done, you can’t reverse it. Protect your self the best way you can, if you have a brand new computer, buy the anti spyware before you do anything else and install it right away.
